Day 2

Today was my second day of work and thank goodness things are getting easier. Not that anything has been hard per say, but there is just so much to figure out and sort though (actual items in the classroom as well as logistical things) that yesterday was very overwhelming.

Today I managed to get a lot done on my room. Luckily I have Karen, my instructional assistant, who was very helpful with shui-ing the room...we got rid of a lot of stuff that didn't look interesting to me and that she hadn't used in the past 7 years...so chances are good we'll never use them. So onto the cart they went (to go elsewhere in the school, whether that's other classrooms or a storage room, we don't know).

One week from today the kids will arrive! I'm nervous but excited. Fortunately I don't start teaching my small groups right away. I'll have a bit of time to do my testing and make my schedule once everyone else has their schedules finalized. I might have to start with a reading gorup right away though. The verdict is out for now.

My goal for tomrorow is to gain access to my email account. I know what it is, but until I find out what my employee id number is I don't have access!

So really, the start of my year isn't very exciting so far. It has primarily involved moving and sorting objects and a bottle of spray cleaner with a rag.
