Bean is on the way!

Katie went into labor at 1:20 am, when her water broke. She called the hospital and they said that it was time to come on in. She let me take a quick shower so that I could be as awake as possible after 3 hours of sleep and then we made a relaxed trip up I-5 to UW. We parked in the parking lot (and didn't get a ticket because they don't give them out at 2 am...we're not sure what they do when we leave, I'm guessing just charge us the maximum for the day for a patient) and strolled into the hospital.

When we got upstairs (to the 6th floor) they took us to a small exam room to confirm that Katie's water had broken. The OB resident (who does routine confirmation of labor when the midwives aren't there so that they aren't unnecessarily woken up) described her as being "grossly ruptured" so we were taken right to labor and delivery room 3. Up until 7 am, Katie's nurse was Kat and up until 8 her midwife was Cindy.

I got out my computer and successfully got online and ordered a substitute.

Theoretically we could have gone to sleep for awhile. Katie had a bed. I had a sort-of-bed. However, sleep did not happen, so at 5:45 we decided that it was time for some TV.
