Happy Year of the Ox!

Since today is Chinese New Year, I decided to make Chinese food for dinner tonight. To make it go faster, I bought frozen foods at Trader Joe's, but I made them the "long way" by cooking everything in the oven or on the stove. The only downside to doing it that way, is that I actually used oil to fry things. Not a lot of oil, only a few tablespoons total, but now everything has a slight olive oil scent. I had to do more laundry after dinner just to combat that.

Our menu: chicken egg rolls, vegetable fried rice, vegetable shu mai (with dipping sauce), and chicken gyoza (with gyoza sauce). For dessert, orange wedges, thin lemon cookies, and a small bit of Belgian chocolate pudding with whipped cream. My dinner was a huge success. Katie was thrilled to come home from school to find a feast only a few minutes from being done.
