Today went pretty well, but it was really long. I got to school at 8 am for a meeting that didn't happen, which meant that I had a bit of extra time to get my room ready. My STAR mentor, Trisha, came and observed my 4/5 reading class. It went pretty well. I'm going to meet her at Starbucks (the one where Em worked) on Monday after school.
Open House was tonight from 5:30 to 7. Luckily, it included dinner. Dominos pizza (not my favorite, but when it's free and I'm hungry, I'll eat most food!), cut up melon, and salad (from Costco). Two families actually visited my classroom, but since the parents only speak Spanish, I couldn't really talk to them much, but at least they were friendly and showed up.
Sandra came in for a minute and was impressed with my room. She said she really likes the way I've decorated it to look like a real classroom. I have the feeling it was sort of bleak last year...
