t minus 2 days

Halloween is almost here and the kids seem to have a pre-Halloween sugar rush. I think it's mostly just the thought of the upcoming candy haul. Today was pretty good though. I had one of those days where I felt like a decent teacher. The only question on my mind is "when are grades due?" I'm sure I'm supposed to know, but to the best of my knowledge, no one has told me. I think it's in a week or two. I should find out. I also have to do progress reports on kids IEPs.

One of my student's grandmother (his guardian) came by today. It was a very good visit. She was nice and wanted to know all about the homework he's supposed to be doing (but isn't doing regularly).

Grampy came home from the hospital, so life is much more normal again. If you ever wind up at Swedish though, I highly recommend their homemade cookies, baked fresh every day. They're super tasty.

I'm currently working on my first pair of fingerless gloves. They're turning out great! I'm using the free pattern off of knitty.com: http://www.knitty.com/Issuesummer06/PATTknucks.html I'm not doing it exactly as they say. I'm doing stripes (and therefore changing colors) with different colored fingers. And I'm using smaller needles with the number of stitches recommended for men's sizing (therefore making slightly finer knitting). Oh, and I discovered that due to my tiny hands, I need to decrease after the thumb more rapidly than recommended. They're going to be so cute!
