Getting to Anchorage proved a challenge. We were all boarded and ready to take off on Alaska flight 87, when they noticed an oil puddle during routine maintenance. They hoped that something had just been overfilled during servicing, so they decided we would wait about 20 minutes while they cleaned up the mess and idoled the engine to see if the oil happened again. It did, so they made us deplane to get an another flight that was "waiting for us". After we all got off and had waited in line for 5-10 minutes for boarding to resume, they asked us to move aside, so that the others who were on that plane could get off, so that they could clean the plane and it would be ready for us to take off. So much for waiting for us! Realizing that we wouldn't be getting to Anchorage until about 2 pm their time (3 pm my stomach time), I rushed over to the Burger King and gobbled up a cheeseburger kids meal. Good thing too.
The flight was crowded, and the guy next to me was taking up more than his amount of space. I only had about 3/4 of my seat to myself, so by the time we landed in Anchorage, my left arm really hurt from being squashed.
This afternoon, Emily, Neil, and I took Banjo to the dog park. Unlike dog parks at home, this one didn't have a fence. All of the dogs that we saw seemed really well behaved.
Tonight we went to dinner at a really cool movie theater. We ordered our dinner while we waited in line to go into the theater, and they delivered it to us in the theater while we watched "Yes man". The theater is neat. All of the seats have tables in front of them.
Now we're back at the house. I am stealing someones internet, because Neil has their internet so encrypted that I cannot connect to it! Crazy!
Tomorrow I think we are going to go rent some cross-country skis at REI.
Here is a picture of Emily modeling the mask that she is supposed to wear if the mountain blows up. Doesn't she look safe?
