Within one week we got excellent and exciting news at school (that we have been approved to be an international school, which will mean a lot of work regarding a high degree of very intentional teaching of social studies) and absolutely horrible news: Sandra (our principal) is being assigned to another school (that is in bad shape) for next year. It is not a good idea to ask the staff of a school to undertake a huge change and at the same time take away the leadership.
Those of us who were hired by Sandra are particularly upset. We are at Concord because she thought we'd be good and continues to think we'll be good. We have her seal of approval. Who knows what this new woman (who has been appointed to us from another school) will think. I am particularly concerned because not all principals are knowledgeable and supportive of special ed. Who knows how she'll be. I've told Sandra that if there is an opening at Hawthorne (where she's being relocated) to let me know so that I can apply. Of course, I will stay where I am unless something better comes along. Things may go well or we may be headed to hell in a handbasket.
All of this was before 9 am. Then we all had to go teach.
